Mexico City, May 22 -- Spaniard Domenec Torrent has reached an agreement to become the new head coach of Monterrey, the Mexican top flight club said.

The 62-year-old replaces Argentine Martin Demichelis, who was sacked earlier this month after the team's quarterfinal elimination from the Liga MX Clausura tournament.

"Domenec brings more than three decades of experience in professional football, including roles at top international clubs, and is known for implementing a balanced, dynamic, and competitive style of play," read a statement on the club's official website on Wednesday.

Torrent has been out of work since parting ways with Atletico San Luis in April. His managerial career has included spells in charge of Flamengo, Galatasaray...
