Shimla, Feb. 6 -- In a major shake-up of the Himachal Pradesh police administration, the state government on Thursday ordered the transfer and posting of 17 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) and Himachal Pradesh Police Service (HPS) officers, effecting a significant overhaul at both district and headquarters levels.

The reshuffle, ordered with immediate effect in public interest, has led to changes in the leadership of four key police districts-Shimla, Solan, Mandi and Una.

The most prominent move in the reshuffle is the elevation of Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, IPS (2012), who was serving as Superintendent of Police, Shimla district.
