Lucknow, Oct. 13 -- The Samajwadi Party (SP) has demanded that the Election Commission of India (ECI) withdraw its new directive regarding the identification of burqa-clad women voters by Anganwadi workers.

The party stated that such an instruction by the ECI will only create a hindrance in holding transparent, free, fair, and fearless elections in the country.

The Election Commission has directed that its directive be strictly implemented in the Bihar Assembly elections and also in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
