Muzaffarnagar, Jan. 2 -- Violence broke out in Muzaffarnagar on Friday evening when Samajwadi Party (SP) district president Ziya Chaudhary was allegedly assaulted ahead of a candle march planned to protest atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh.

Members of Karni Sena Bharat, led by its state secretary Gaurav Chauhan, were accused of attacking SP leaders and workers outside the party office.

According to SP leaders, Chauhan arrived at the SP office with his supporters just before the candle march and began assaulting Ziya Chaudhary and other party workers.
