Lucknow, April 22 -- Samajwadi Party on Monday night announced Ms Shalini Yadav as the candidate from Varanasi.
Shalini, who was in Congress, joined the Samajwadi Party on Monday evening and her name was announced soon after.
Shalini, daughter-in-law of Shyam Lal Yadav had contested the last Mayor election from Varanasi on Congress ticket. However, she lost the elections.
Along with Shalini, SP has given Sanjay Chauhan ticket from Chandauli to challenge BJP state president Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey.
Congress is yet to name candidate for Varanasi seat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
