Lucknow, Dec. 22 -- Members of the Samajwadi Party, the main opposition group disrupted proceedings in Uttar Pradesh's state assembly Monday, demanding immediate discussion over a codeine syrup scandal and questioning why authorities have not taken stronger action against those accused.

Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey raised the issue as the assembly convened, with party members questioning why "bulldozers,"a reference to the government's tough enforcement tactics, were silent on the accused.

Members of the Samajwadi Party trooped into the well of the house raising slogans against the government.
