Lucknow, Oct. 11 -- Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak today accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its president Akhilesh Yadav of betraying democratic values by aligning with the Congress, the party that imposed the Emergency and "crushed democracy."Pathak said the Congress, with which Akhilesh Yadav is now sharing the stage, had once imprisoned democracy's guardian Jayaprakash Narayan.
"On one hand, you garland Jayaprakash Narayan's statue, and on the other, you form an alliance with those who imprisoned him. This is political hypocrisy," he said.
