Amaravati, May 24 -- The Southwest Monsoon made an early onset over Kerala on Saturday, nearly a week ahead of its normal arrival date of June 1.

The monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of the south Arabian Sea, parts of Westcentral and East Central Arabian Sea, the entire Lakshadweep area, Kerala, Mahe, some parts of Karnataka, remaining parts of the Maldives, Comorin area, many parts of Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of southwest and east central Bay of Bengal, parts of West central and north Bay of Bengal, and some parts of Mizoram, Meteorological Centre said.

In a daily weather report here, it said that the meteorological conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to progress further over the next 2-3 days.
