Seoul, Aug. 4 -- South Korean authorities today began dismantling loudspeakers used for anti-North Korea broadcasts along the inter-Korean border, Seoul's Defense Ministry announced, as President Lee Jae-myung's administration moves to ease tensions with Pyongyang.
The removal follows the suspension of the propaganda broadcasts in June, shortly after President Lee took office. His government has emphasized the need to revive stalled dialogue with North Korea and rebuild trust on the Korean Peninsula.
In a statement, the Defense Ministry said the dismantling was "a practical measure" aimed at reducing tensions, adding that it would not affect the military's overall readiness.
