Dubai, Dec. 15 -- South Africa spinner Simon Harmer has been named the ICC Men's Player of the Month for his stellar performances during the ICC World Test Championship series against India.
The right-arm spinner beat out competition from Bangladesh's Taijul Islam and Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz to claim the coveted award for the first time.
Harmer earned the honour on the back of a dominant Test series in which he was also named Player of the Series, playing a pivotal role in South Africa's historic 2-0 victory, their first Test series win in India since 2000.
In the two matches, Harmer picked up a staggering 17 wickets, helping South Africa comprehensively defeat India in Kolkata and Guwahati.
