Sought Bharat Ratna for iconic Thevar leader Pasumpon Mathuramaligam : EPS on meeting with Amit Shah

Chennai, Sept. 17 -- In a bid to woo the influential Thevar community, especially in southern districtsof Tamil Nadu, ahead of the crucial Assembly polls, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami(EPS))today said he had sought conferrment of the country's highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna for ThevarCommunity's ionic leader Pasumpon Muthramalingam during his meeting with union Home MinisterAmit Shah.

In a statement here and in a social media post sharing photos of the meeting, EPS said he had handed overa letter to Mr Shah seeking to confer Bharat Ratna on Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, who fought forcountry's Independence.
