Bengaluru, May 6 -- "Sorry Karnataka. My love for you is bigger than my ego. Love you always," playback singer Sonu Nigam posted on Instagram on Tuesday, in an emotional message to the people of the state, shortly after the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) announced a ban on him to perform or collaborate in any musical events across Karnataka.

The KFCC's decision followed a recent controversy stoked by Nigam's concerts in the state, where the singer claimed he was "threatened" on stage in the name of language. The chamber alleged that Nigam had made remarks that were perceived as disrespectful towards Kannada, prompting sharp criticism from within the industry.
