New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be BJP's candidate for Rajya Sabha from Assam, a statement from the party said on Saturday.
Sonowal is the current Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and also the Minister of AYUSH.
Minister of State L. Murugan will meanwhile be the party candidate for Rajya Sabha by-polls from Madhya Pradesh.
Murugan currently holds the portfolio of MoS in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and is the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Both were inducted into the Council of Ministers by in the recent cabinet reshuffle in July.
