Srinagar, Oct. 1 -- Gitanjali J Angmo, wife of noted climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, has written to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, seeking her husband's immediate release.
In a three-page representation, Angmo said Wangchuk has always stood for the unity of India and strengthening of borders through democratic means, including statehood or a union Territory with legislature and Sixth Schedule protections. She questioned his detention under the National Security Act (NSA), describing it as a blow to both democracy and Ladakh's fragile ecology.
