Khammam, Jan. 19 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday evening said the state government's Solar Model Village programme, aimed at turning every household and agricultural pump set into a power generation unit, is a revolutionary initiative not only in India but across the world.

He inaugurated the programme at Ravinuthala village in Bonakal mandal and addressed a public meeting, explaining that the government is bearing the entire cost of installing solar power plants. Households and farmers can use the electricity generated for their own needs and sell surplus power to the State electricity department, making it a unique model, he said.
