Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 28 -- Senior Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister A.K. Antony alleged on Sunday that social justice in the country is being systematically undermined under the BJP-led government, asserting that the Centre's policies are aimed at weakening welfare measures meant for the poor and marginalised.
Speaking after hoisting the Congress flag at the KPCC headquarters here as part of the Congress Foundation Day celebrations, Antony said the BJP government was diluting the core principles of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) with the intention of gradually dismantling the programme. This, he said, was clear evidence of an assault on social justice in the country.
