Kolkata, Sept. 16 -- In a landmark development for maritime infrastructure, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), has signed a Concession Agreement with JSW Infra Ltd. for the mechanisation and modernisation of Berths No. 7 and 8 at Netaji Subhas Dock (NSD) under the Kolkata Dock System (KDS).
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of SMPK Chairman Rathendra Raman and JSW Infrastructure Ltd. Director Devki Nandan, along with all heads of KDS and team members from JSW.
The Concession Agreement includes the reconstruction of Berth 8, mechanisation of Berths 7 and 8 by installing rail-mounted quay cranes (RMQCs) to facilitate faster handling of container cargo, along with a backup area of 25 acres. The berths will be operated...
