Chandigarh, Dec. 16 -- Kabaddi player and promoter Digvijay Singh, popularly known as Rana Balachauria, who was shot dead during a tournament in Mohali on Monday, was cremated at his native village Chankoya near Balachaur. His younger brother performed the last rites amid a heavy presence of family members, friends, and residents.
Police investigations have revealed that the attackers fired at Balachauria from point-blank range from behind. The bullet struck the back of his head and exited through his mouth, leading to his death before he could reach the hospital. The assailants approached him, posing as fans asking for a selfie before opening fire at point-blank range.
