Yangon, June 15 -- A total of 16 hotels in Myanmar's Mandalay region have collapsed due to the 7.9-magnitude earthquake in central Myanmar, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Sunday.

The Myanmar Hotelier Association is compiling a list of hotels, motels, and guesthouses damaged by the earthquake to assess their eligibility for reconstruction loans, the report said.

As of Saturday, the powerful earthquake that struck on March 28 has claimed more than 3,700 lives, injured over 5,100 people, and left 54 others missing, it added.
