Ranchi, Aug. 24 -- At least six vehicles engaged in coal mining operations were set ablaze in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district, in what police suspect to be an attack by the Maoist splinter outfit Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC).

The incident has triggered panic among workers and fresh security concerns in the state's coal belt.

According to police, around nine to ten armed men stormed the Tapin North coal mining project site of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), under Charhi police station area, between midnight and 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The attackers, allegedly linked to the TPC, forced workers out of their vehicles, drained fuel tanks, and then set fire to three earthmovers, dumpers, and other machinery belonging to RKS, the outsourcing ...
