Bhandara, Oct. 16 -- At least six school children sustained injuries after their van overturned on a bridge in Maharashtra's Bhandara district today, reportedly due to large potholes and poor road conditions, sources said.

The incident occurred near the Bhilewada-Surewada route while the Maruti Omni van was transporting students from Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule School in Kardha.

The van was en route to Mandvi, Matora, and Khamari villages in Bhandara taluka when the driver lost control while navigating a damaged stretch of road near a bridge, causing the vehicle to topple off the roadside.

Local residents and passersby rushed to the scene and helped rescue the injured students from the vehicle.
