Kollam, Sept. 11 -- In a heartrending yet inspiring gesture, the family of Isaac George, 33, from Bethel Charuvila Vadavode near Kottarakkara, chose to donate his organs after he was declared brain dead following a road accident.

Their decision has gifted a new lease of life to six patients across Kerala.

Isaac's heart was airlifted on a Home Department helicopter and transplanted into a 28-year-old recipient at Lissy Hospital, Ernakulam. One kidney was allotted to Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College, while the other kidney and liver were transplanted at KIMS Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. His corneas were donated to the Government Regional Institute of Ophthalmology in the capital.
