Kolkata, Sept. 14 -- The police probing the death of six people in Friday's stone quarry accident in West Bengal's Birbhum district, have arrested the owner, accused of running the illegal mine at Bahadurpur under Nalhati police station, official sources said today.
Owner Sanjib Ghosh, alias Bhulu, who was on the run immediately after six workers were buried alive in the pit following the collapse of the blocks while the victims were drilling to extract stones around 2:30 pm on Friday.
District Superintendent of Police Amandeep said the arrest was made last night from a hideout following an FIR lodged by the area block officer of Land and Land Reform Bankim Ghosh against the owner for running the stone quarry illegally.
