Pune, April 21 -- Six crops have been selected for artificial intelligence-based farming in Maharashtra and a provision of Rs 500 crore has been made for it, said Deputy Chief and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday.
Speaking to reporters here after a meeting organised at the Sugar Complex in presence of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on usage of artificial intelligence in agriculture sector, he informed six crops that have been selected for this are sugarcane, cotton, soybean, onion, rice and maize.
He explained that the use of AI in agriculture increases production capacity, saves water and chemical fertilisers and increases soil fertility.
