Imphal, May 16 -- The situation along the Indo-Myanmar border remains under heightened surveillance following the killing of 10 militants on May 14 last, defence sources said on Friday.

According to PRO, Ministry of Defence, in a significant operational development near New Samtal village in Chandel district of Manipur -- along the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) -- a patrol of Assam Rifles was heavily fired upon by suspected militants on May 14.

Demonstrating exceptional composure and combat readiness, the soldiers responded in a precise, measured and calibrated manner. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of ten individuals in camouflage fatigues.
