Hyderabad, May 23 -- Sitting MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of Telangana CM Chandrasekhar Rao, was defeated by BJP's candidate Dharmapuri Aravind from Nizamabad Lok sabha seat.

Arvind, son of Rajaya Sabha member and former Congress minister D Srinivas, secured over 71,000 votes and wrested the seat from TRS.

Arvind, who has been taking up the cause of various sections people particularly farmers in the constituency for the past few years, secured 4,80,004 votes while Kavitha got 4,08,947 votes.

In 2014 elections, Kavitha won over Congress leader Madhuyashki Goud by a margin of over 1.67 lakh votes.
