Mangaluru, Oct. 4 -- The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing sensational allegations of murders, rapes and mass burials in Dharmasthala has issued notices to two ambulance drivers from Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada district for questioning.

The drivers are being examined to verify details regarding the transportation of bodies reported under Unnatural Death Reports (UDR) during the period under scrutiny.

The case came into the spotlight in July this year after a former sanitation worker, CN Chinnayya, came forward as a whistleblower, claiming that between 1995 and 2014 he was forced to bury or cremate hundreds of bodies, many of which, according to him, belonged to women and children showing signs of sexual assault and violence.
