Nagpur, Nov. 28 -- : A sit-in protest was staged in Nagpur on Friday to draw the attention of the Central Government toward demands that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule be conferred the Bharat Ratna award posthumously.
Floral tributes were offered at the statue located at Phule Market Square to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Phule.
On this occasion, participants also held a sit-in agitation to protest the Central Government's "indifference and delay" over the past 26 years in awarding the nation's highest civilian honour to the Phule couple.
