Kolkata, Oct. 19 -- The preliminary mapping of West Bengal's voters' list part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has revealed a match of around 3.48 crore voters between the electoral rolls of 2002 and the current one.
The exercise marks the first major step towards cleaning up the state's voter database ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
According to officials in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal, the mapping compares entries in the current voters' list with those from the 2002 electoral roll, when the last SIR was conducted across India.
