Siliguri, Feb. 28 -- Siliguri marked National Science Day with the unveiling of busts of ten pioneering women scientists at the North Bengal Science Centre in Matigara, Darjeeling district, on Saturday.
The initiative honoured trailblazers such as Kadambini Ganguly, Bibha Chowdhuri, Asima Chatterjee, Kamal Ranadive and Anna Mani, whose contributions across medicine, physics, agriculture, meteorology, engineering and social sciences left a lasting impact on India's scientific progress.
The occasion also commemorated the discovery of the Raman Effect by C V Raman on February 28, 1928. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, the first such recognition for an Indian scientist in the field.
