Varanasi, April 16 -- Thousands of devotees and tourists visit the holy city of Kashi every day.
While the Ganga Ghats typically bustled with activity from early morning, a profound silence has now begun to settle over the area due to the scorching heat. The city's maximum temperature has crossed the 40-degree Celsius mark-approximately 3 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
There has been a sharp decline in the number of people opting for boat rides on the Ganga. Bookings at hotels and guest houses have also started to drop.
