Gangtok, July 16 -- The Sikkim Government today asked all its employees to stop using political or external pressure to seek personal benefits in service-related matters and warned of "strict disciplinary action" in case of violation of the order.
In a circular issued during the day, Chief Secretary R. Telang made it clear that the practice of exerting such pressure went against the rules and will "no longer be tolerated".
The circular, brought out by the Department of Personnel, refers specifically to Rule 21 of the Sikkim Government Servants' Conduct Rules, 1981, which prohibits any government servant from trying to use political or other forms of influence to further their interests in matters of service.
