Bengaluru, Sept. 15 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today called on the Tamil Nadu government and the Centre to immediately permit the Mekedatu balancing reservoir project, underlining that political differences should not come in the way of water management and power generation.
He stressed that the project is vital for ensuring proper utilisation of Cauvery river waters and safeguarding Karnataka's interests during both normal and deficient monsoon years.
Speaking on the Cauvery river dispute, Siddaramaiah reiterated that Karnataka is obliged to supply 177.25 TMC of water to Tamil Nadu, without impacting local water requirements during the monsoon season.
