Vijayapura, Sept. 6 -- Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today underlined the state government's commitment to the third phase of the Upper Krishna Project (UKP), urging farmers not to approach courts over compensation.
They also detailed plans to raise the Almatti dam height to bolster irrigation.
After performing Gangapooje and offering Bagina to the Krishna River at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Reservoir in Almatti, Siddaramaiah announced that a meeting will be convened within a week to finalise compensation rates for land acquisition related to the project.
