Bengaluru, April 30 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil on Wednesday welcomed the Union Cabinet's decision to approve a caste census, but sought clarity on the nature of the exercise.
Both leaders emphasisED the need for transparency and ensuring justice for backward communities.
Reacting to the development, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the Congress had made a clear commitment in its election manifesto to conduct a socio-economic and caste survey. However, he added that more clarity was needed on the nature of the exercise approved by the Centre.
