Bengaluru, Oct. 24 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today clarified that his son Yathindra did not indicate any preference for a successor to the CM's post.

"Yathindra never said that 'so-and-so' should become the Chief Minister. Such speculations are baseless and should not be given undue importance," Siddaramaiah told reporters here.

The clarification follows comments by Yathindra, a Congress MLC, at a public event in Belagavi district, in which he suggested that Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi could be mentored for a leadership role.
