Bengaluru, June 5 -- ) In a strong bid to restore public confidence after the stampede at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) victory celebration that left 11 dead and 56 injured, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced sweeping punitive measures, including the appointment of a one-man judicial commission and the immediate suspension of top police officials.

Addressing media persons here, Siddaramaiah declared that retired High Court judge Justice Michael D'Cunha will head an independent judicial inquiry to probe the lapses that led to the stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
