Tumakuru, Aug. 23 -- union Minister V Somanna today squarely blamed Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the controversy surrounding the so-called Dharmasthala burial claims, demanding that he perform penance at the shrine for betraying the faith of millions of devotees.

Somanna said Siddaramaiah must take moral responsibility for what he described as a "sinful act" and urged the Chief Minister to stay at Dharmasthala for three days, seek forgiveness from Lord Manjunatheswara and Annappa Swamy, and admit that he was misled by wrong advice. "If he seeks forgiveness, it will be good for him as well as for the state," he asserted.
