Mangaluru, Oct. 20 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today slammed the BJP for its handling of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), saying the state has suffered a loss of Rs 15,000 crore due to GST changes since its implementation in 2017.
He accused the BJP of hypocrisy, claiming that while it lauds GST reductions as a Diwali gift, it has 'looted' Indian taxpayers over the past eight years. "GST was implemented by Narendra Modi in 2017. Eight years have passed. In these eight years, taxes have been looted from Indians. Now they are reducing it and calling it a Diwali gift, patting their own back, this is BJP's hypocrisy.
