Mumbai, May 15 -- A late-night outing turned tragic for two siblings in Maharashtra's Palghar district after their two-wheeler was struck by a speeding trailer truck, killing both on the spot, police said on Thursday.

The victims, identified as Pooja Vishwakarma (25) and her brother Mangesh Vishwakarma (22), had gone out for dinner. The accident occurred when they were returning home via the Palghar-Mahim Road, when a trailer coming from the opposite direction rammed into their motorcycle.

The collision was so severe that both siblings died instantly, and their bodies were badly mangled in the impact, a Palghar police station official said.
