Visakhapatnam, Dec. 6 -- India vice-captain Shubman Gill has been cleared to play and will join the national squad for the upcoming T20 series against South Africa, ending weeks of uncertainty over his fitness.

Gill had suffered a neck injury during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata, which forced him to miss the entire Test series and the subsequent ODI series.

The injury, which caused significant stiffness in his neck, required Gill to be hospitalized for two days and undergo injections. Despite these setbacks, he has now successfully completed a rigorous rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Center of Excellence (COE) sports science team.
