Guwahati, Sept. 21 -- The bustling capital town of Assam, Guwahati, fell silent for the second consecutive day today to mourn the death of its most iconic singer, Zubeen Garg.
Garg, who died in Singapore on Friday afternoon, was regarded as one of the most iconic singers after the late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
Most shops and commercial establishments remained closed for the second consecutive day today, paying a silent tribute to the departed musical icon.
"Nobody called for a bandh today. I closed my shop voluntarily. I wasn't feeling well since I heard the news of Zubeen da. My generation grew up with his songs," said Ajanta Deka, a grocery shop owner in Guwahati's Jayanagar area.
