Guwahai, Aug. 26 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that the "shoot-at-sight" order issued in Dhubri district will remain in force until the completion of Durga Puja celebrations, underscoring the government's resolve to maintain peace and communal harmony in the sensitive border district.

Responding to media queries, Sarma clarified that there have been no fresh incidents of violencein Dhubri since the order was imposed, but stressed that the directive will not be withdrawn prematurely.

"Anyone attempting to create unrest in Dhubri will face severe consequences. Here, people of Sanatan Dharma are a minority, and their protection from extremists is our priority," he said.
