Bengaluru/Guwahati, May 2 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday hinted at possible "hotel politics" ahead of the Assam Assembly election results, while dismissing exit polls predicting a big win for the BJP in Assam.
Shivakumar, who arrived in Assam along with former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, met Congress candidates ahead of the counting of votes.
The Karnataka leader expressed strong confidence that the Congress would form the next government in Assam.
Shivakumar said he was in Assam "to protect MLAs", despite the exit polls predicting a comfortable majority for the ruling BJP.
Shivakumar argued that exit polls rely on small sample sizes and often fail to reflect ground realities.
