Bengaluru, Dec. 27 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday hit back at Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over his remarks on the Bengaluru eviction drive, saying the state government was only protecting public land and not indulging in any "bulldozer culture".
Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said Vijayan's comments were made without understanding the facts.
He clarified that the cleared land was a solid waste dumping site that had created serious health concerns for residents in the area.
He said the government had acted with humanitarian consideration and had given those affected time to relocate.
