Bengaluru, Aug. 17 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today flagged off the 'Run for Rajiv' marathon at Bengaluru's Kanteerava Stadium, commemorating former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's contributions to youth empowerment ahead of his birthday on August 20.
Shivakumar expressed his pleasure at participating in the run as a citizen rather than in his official capacity, saying, "I'm very happy to be a participant, not as Deputy CM, but as a participant. I'll also try to cover 2-5 kilometres."
Remembering the former PM, Shivakumar highlighted Gandhi's role in empowering youth and his personal experience of being encouraged by him during his college days to pursue public service.
