Bengaluru, Feb. 17 -- With Karnataka gearing up for imminent local body elections, including the long-overdue Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) polls, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday reaffirmed his loyalty to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while urging Congress leaders and workers to commence preparations, emphasising that elections could be announced at any time.

"Siddaramaiah is our leader. He is essential for all elections, including Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, Assembly, and Parliament. The Congress has made him the Chief Minister twice. Let us not misuse his name every single day; there is no need for that," Shivakumar told reporters here.
