Mumbai, Dec. 2 -- The Shiv Sena (UBT) has launched a sharp attack on the State Election Commission for its decision to postpone elections to several local bodies, labelling the commission a "joker" in the BJP's "political game".

The party criticised the abrupt deferral of polls for 24 nagar parishads and 154 wards across 76 other nagar parishads and nagar panchayats to December 20, calling it a "calculated political manoeuvre" that has thrown the democratic process in Maharashtra into disarray.

In a strongly-worded editorial published in its mouthpiece 'Saamana', the Thackeray-led faction stated that the SEC has "proven that its mind is not in the right place" and lacks the authority to postpone elections so suddenly.
