Mumbai, Dec. 21 -- The results of the municipal council and nagar panchayat elections across Maharashtra reveal a historic performance by the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Breaking the long-held perception that the party performs well only in alliance with the BJP, the Shiv Sena contested independently in many places and recorded an impressive strike rate on its own strength.

Notably, the Shiv Sena won more seats than the combined tally of all three parties of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), establishing its undisputed dominance in the elections.
