Buldhana, Nov. 6 -- Shiv Sena MLA(Shinde faction) Sanjay Gaikwad has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to postpone Maharashtra's upcoming local body elections to allow time for the removal of duplicate names from voter rolls.
The elections for 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats are currently scheduled for December 2, with counting on December 3.
Gaikwad, representing the Buldhana constituency, highlighted that thousands of duplicate entries remain in the electoral list, raising concerns about potential bogus voting. He requested that the ECI mark deleted entries once removed to ensure transparency.
